Planinska jama, December 13

53148. The cave was, after a heavy and prolonged rain, soaked more than the author had ever seen. Instead of individual drops, a big shower flowed from the chimney above the Sotočje (Confluence) and created this rarely seen version of the View of the waterfall of the river Rak from the sightseeing platform. Unfortunately, it was not possible to use the camera's Night mode as the entire height of the water jet had to be illuminated using painting with light.

53150. Inflow from the side chimney in the Pivka branch of the cave, view from the end of the path

53152. View towards the Pivka River through the window in front of the tunnel, again at the end of the path

53153. Along the southern wall of the ascent to the top of the Šmidl hall, at high water level part of the water which sinks into the siphon upstream of the hall, bursts out for a moment in this place. The remote trigger (via the Bluetooth interface) and the self-timer gave the author enough time to move over and around the rocks in the photo to the right edge of the picture.
He is wearing a caving suit and helmet cover made by Lena's protective and caving equipment company Cuesta speleo from Kharkiv, Ukraine. The word cuesta denotes here a mountain peak that has a steep slope on one side and a gentle one on the other. As opposed to their "heavy duty" caving suits made of tough cordura fabric, which are yellow and purple in color, this caving suit is made of durable cotton in an army green color, so that the person in the photo blends in as much as possible with the cave. In accordance with the author's belief that the man, who is only a visitor in the cave, should not be the object of the main attention in the picture, but is present there only for scale. The suit is also breathable, cotton draws moisture away from the body, and is therefore much more comfortable. Like more serious suits, it has a knee pocket on the inside for placing less than a centimeter thick, but still sufficient knee pads (see the knee of the left leg in the photo). Prices for equipment from Kharkiv are affordable, and for more information and orders, email cuesta.speleo@gmail.com (tel. +38 0502086694). The website in English is under preparation. Illumination of the photo: 10 W LED reflector on the stick on the left and another such reflector hanging on a rope above the water - it is held by a stone on the rock in the lower center of the photo.

53158. View of the waterfall of the stream which flows from Tiha jama (the Silent Cave) after a heavy rain.

53119 and 53166. The person with immediate surroundings was cut from the previous photo and added to the photo 53119 (which is similar to the photo 53118, except for the water jet - it is a bit better on 53119).

VL25. For the previous photo, the tripod, which only reaches to a height of 125 cm, was extended with three half-meter long pieces of plastic pipe for electrical wiring and similarly long hazel sticks. If the phone camera was not positioned so high above ground (a little over two meters), the perspective in the previous photo would be much distorted - its vertical lines would "fly together". For the weight of a full-frame camera, such a construction would not be strong enough.

53174. Author's most complete photo of the Dome in Mala dvorana (the Little Hall) so far, with seven LED lamps, including the author's head lamp. Technical data: Night mode, exposure time 3 seconds, f 1.4, ISO 100, remote trigger and self-timer.
